About Me
I am Furqan Raza. I did M.Sc in Geophysics in 1996-98 from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad. I had keen interest in computers and programming since my matriculation and I kept reading and exploring the science even after my admission in Geophysics. My interest and capability was recognized by professor Dr. Mubarik Ali. He offered me to have a thesis in software development instead of classical seismic interpretation done by rest of my class fellows. This was an opportunity for me to exercise my computer knowledge and abilities to solve the earth science problems. This was also a challenge for Dr. Mubarik Ali to supervise us in a research of its own kind. I still remember the meetings & discussions we did to add more quality and objectivity to our mission in making something good to be used in Earth Science Department in QAU.
Since that time I always worked directly or indirectly to serve the earth science with the help of computer science. Particularly my career was focused on Geographic Information Systems (for energy sector) from very begining.
Since 2010, I am working as Team Lead in Data Management and Mapping (DMM) products of GeoGraphix in LMKR.
